In September, City Council voted to transfer about 10,000 vacant city-owned lots (out of 40,000) to the Detroit Land Bank Authority and that transfer is now in progress.
The program has been giving first priority to residents who have been maintaining the side lot. To keep that consistent for the Fair, folks who have maintained the lot can go online to place a hold on the property, beginning December 1. For lots that aren't put on hold, they will be sold first come first served at the Fair. If you think you may be eligible, come prepared with credit, debit, or cashiers check to purchase your lot for $100.
